Carb question

Hey my neighbor just gave me the carb and I'm trying to figure out what cfm it is it's a qft . Any one know any thing about them or where I can figure it out thanks

Looks like an older Holley there should be numbers on the choke horn or numbers on the bottom of the butterflies what are they

Do not try to run that carb as it is, it is not ready to run. Anyone else see what's missing?

It looks like it could be a basic holley with QFT bowls and secondary diaphragm housing. There should be a "List #" on the front of the air horn that'll give you some direction.

What's wrong with it?no j tubes its a vacuum secondary so no squirter on the secondary.

Ya it's been sitting a wile he gave me a complete 454 and a complete small block 400 also 454 is 2 bolt main with peanut port heads but free is still nice

There is nothing wrong with a peanut port 454. Run forever and can make decent power. The biggest thing is compression and cam choice, get those two things right and it will run very respectable numbers.

A vacuum suckmydairy has no secondary squirter and I believe QFT uses the same bore section on all carburetors of the same size...

Could be FOS though.. $:-\$

X2 the passage is in the main body, but sense the bowl doesn't have a pump it just stops down there. Wont hurt anything.

There's a story floating around that did a build and it coughed up over 425 horse with off the shelf parts.

Well OK, first off a custom ground cam and ported heads does NOT equal "off the shelf parts".

Then take those crap heads off and just bolt on a set of large ovals and lets see the dyno numbers. Large ovals are just not that hard to find. And IMO, by the time you pay some porter to work those tow truck heads into something that kinda works, you would have been money and HP ahead to just start with a better head.

But none of this helps this guy figure out what size his carb is.

Not really, it could be a Holly main body, the early QFTs did use Holly main bodies. But sense that float bowl has no pump or passages for one, the passage in the main body doesn't go anywhere.
