carb question???

got a holley 650 and it is dumping a ton of fuel in to the motor

dont know if it makes a difference but i ran it before i took it out and it ran fine.....then got it into the marina and it stated doin that

I was just gonna say, sumpin got some dirt or film on it and it stuck. try tapping on the carb while it's running.

First break the screw loose then turn nut right below it counter clockwise until fuel stops,you can also use the sight glass on the side of the carb to see hell much fuel in their.

If it still has the original Holley needle and seat hardware, you loosen the flat head screw first then turn the nut to raise/lower the needle assembly. Adjust the float level so the fuel is level with the bottom of the sight screw on the side of the bowl.

If it has a jam nut style needle and seat (aftermarket rebuild kit), get rid of it and put in original Holley parts.

You can remove and inspect the needle and seat assembly and look for debris with it shut off, but make adjustments with it running.

If you have an electric pump you could probably just turn the key to run. Try to have the boat sitting on the trailer like it will be in the water, in other words you don't want the trailer tounge(sp?) laying on the ground or way up in the air.

cleaned the needles and seats but it dumps to much fuel in the carb to start it...but it onlt dumps fuel from the front and not the rear

78 cent just go to fuel curve west talk to Dave your needle and seat must be worn out, bad what ever it is just replace them for a few bucks. Its an easy fix son.

Could be a sunk float (fuel inside of float).

Are you comfortable removing a float bowl?

If so, remove the bowl, and see if the float has fuel inside.

Then report back

I would say either the needle assembly is bad or there is a piece of crap stuck inside.

Have you removed the needle assembly?

What did you use to clean them with? try blowing some compressed air,it can only be one of two things are maybe both needle and seat are the float not adjusted right.

the adjustment should have been ok since it was running ok before it started this (the float adjustment). Has to be the needle and seat $:-\$

Ok Bro take the float bowl off turn in up side down it should be about 7/16 from the bottom a 7/16 drill bit works fine this will put you in the ball park.

This is what probably happened the carb suck up some DIRT causing the fuel problem he took it apart to clean the needle and seat and thats when the float adjustment messed him up.BTW did you mess with any adjustment? when cleaning if so theirs your problem.
