Post pics. It needs to be tigged, if done right it should hold. I really would look for a used bell housing though. I did have to TIG an aluminum motor mount for a vintage formula 1 car and warned the owner that it is not advised that I am doing this where this mount will be supporting a cosworth 10,000 RPM v-8 screamer. He said, do it cause the mounts are not made anymore. I think it is still in the car and that was 2 years ago and the car is raced all the time.

Imo I would not weld it up! to do it right would probably be more than to just pick up another one! someone around here may have a line on one!

That may cost more to weld than a replacement bell housing......Especially used. :-\

That will have to be ground to a vee on both sides and welded in stages because it's cast, not billit...

You're probably talking about a $300 weld job on a $150 part, and it would always be a weakened part.

We have run aluminum boats for decades and even I would not trust a welded together bell housing.

Just my opinion, nothing personal, but I would search for a different piece.
