Changing Nitrous activation switch

I was using a microswitch on my throttle to activate my nitrous system , changed it to a push button on the steering wheel now . My question is what rpm to hit it? It used to come on when i floored it,

I do run a NOS button without a wide open throttle switch. Probably not the best idea I've ever had. I have seen guys come out of the throttle and not the button not a good site. My new set up may work off wide open safety this time just not sure yet. My boats at 6600 rpm before I can ever hit the NOS.

Damn, 6600? That's awesome! Didn't realize you guys spun them that high BEFORE even gettin to the NOS.

. It pretty instant it will flash over 7000 then come down to 6600 as the boat rolls flat then the nos will be applied.

. Well it really depends on the amount applied mine was right at 7600 rpm.

. I would never run a WOT switch only. I want to be able to control the time and duration of the hit. I have been out of shape and want nothing to do with the NOS coming on when I'm trying to collect my self up. Been there done that

I dont run a wide open switch.

If it was in a car, I would be all over a WOT switch

Being in a boat, and the amount of movement we have, makes it too damn easy imo to hit WOT again when you dont want to, and "spray" on accident

Or, If your boat is anything like mine, on some of my better runs with the diverter still up, sometimes i have to hammer it again on shutdown to straighten it up. (probably a bad setup issue on my fault)

My theory is its a lot easier for me to let off of a button with my thumb, than try to prevent hitting WOT in situations like above

But how can I set it up so its not mistakenly hit at a lower rpm? Just wanting to mistakes with this new motor lol

I launch my boat
Wait for it to start rolling over/Move diverter up
Hit button and hang on

I have no clue what RPM i start spraying at. I would say in my case its close to the MAX rpm i pull on motor.

You can always buy a window switch, and set an arm rpm/disarm rpm

Not needed in my opinion. We build RPM so fast that by the time you are planed out/trimmed up you are ready to hit the bottle

Imo.... I do NOT run a wide open throttle switch because of a safety fact on a gullwing, you are gonna wanna land it back in the water as easy as you can. Whenever I was going to make a full pass I would do it in this sequence from a dig. 1. Full throttle...2. Hit nitrous "button"....... full pass. 3. Let off nitrous while keeping the boat full throttle..... 4.slowly ease of throttle...... 5.land gullwing safely. Coming of gas and nitrous is bad news. I've heard many just dumping both and ending up wet. I've seen a few passes in person and all of them have been extremely close calls. Lee another opinion I have would be a definite no because of your hull design. You have a deep v which any sudden loss in power could lead to major bow steer.

One thing that I forgot to mention is I do have a NOS arming switch turns on NOS fuel pump and noids.

I agree with Dennis. I've lost power in my boat during a nitrous run and it was a very scary moment

In my opinion. Stick with the button and run it.

I do run an arming switch though

Thanks Dennis ... Your right about the bow steer can happen all to quickly. I'll finish wiring the button on the steering wheel
