Chevy 350 parts swapping..
« on: January 23, 2014, 10:58:20 PM »
My engine is a 76' 350. I have another set of heads from a 350 (year unknown), and I was thinking about swapping the old crusty iron intake manifold with something newer and cleaner. Won't any Chevy head, intake manifold, etc. bolt on without any issues as long as they are for a 350? Or are there certain years that won't accept "newer" parts?

Thanks

There are three generations of "the 350". Early, Vortec and second gen Vortec.

As for any head... No.

The combustion chamber size should be matched up or verified that it will work with the combo.

If you use first Gen Vortec heads, you need a first Gen manifold, if you use second gen, you need second Gen...

The exhaust ports and bolt patterns are all the same.

Whatcha buildin'?  8)

Find and post the head #'s on your old and 'new' heads, there 'may' be a performance advantage between the two, maybe not.
Vortec heads are a nice upgrade
291/462 heads would work nice too, for a mild build.
