Cleaning oil out of engine compartment
« on: August 11, 2013, 09:48:24 PM »
What's the best way to clean it out I overfilled my motor and it puked a bunch of oil and mixed with water in the bilge. Any advise trying Dawn and adding water sloshing it around.

Dawn and Hot water, throw 5 gallons of hot water in the bilge and about 3 oz. of dawn and go for a drive (on the trailer, don't push that shit into the waterways).

Once it has sloshed around for a few, drain the hull into a drain pan and let the water evaporate off...

Then grab the simple green and a hose and finish up, should be very little oil left in there.

I'm a huge fan of the purple power stuff kayotc mentioned, bought some when I was at oriley about a year ago and now that's all I really use. $15 for a 2 1/2 gallon jug it's fiberglass safe, paint and bla bla bla. And if it gets on polished stuff it doesn't dull it as bad as simple green or other degreasers and I'm pretty sure it's bio degradable.
