The guy he's referring to is not even a mondello.
Joe mondello passed away a few years ago, and his son Bernard is doing a whole other deal out in corona.

Mondello twister is run by a bunch of goons!

Rushin is right about his Mondello facts.  The old man is dead.  Joe Mondello passed away in 2011.  After leaving so Cal he moved to Paso Robles and opened Mondello Technical School.  He later moved it to Crossville TN.  By the time he left L.A. his son Bernard was operating his own deal known as Bernard Mondello Racing Engines, currently operating out of a hole in the wall in Corona.  His reputation in the industry is not good at all.  Terrible businessman and not half the innovator his father was.

Much of the assembly and machine work that made old Joe famous was done by Danny Roslan who operates Danny Roslan Performance in Paso.  The last phone number I had was (805)237-1974.  He is the "guy" in this area of the country.

And if you want to get an idea of exactly what it takes to build 500, 600, 800 HP with the real world E.T.'s and dyno sheets you could spend a lot of time here  http://realoldspower.prophpbb.com/forum12.html   I know I did.

The fulcrums fail at any kinda rpm the good  news is instead of over paying for olds rockers 302 rockers go jn just stud if and run rollers after a fulcrums fails your motor may or may not be trashed ive pushed pushrods  thru rockers with that set up and a cam comparable to an rv cam in a bbc

I dont know off the top of my head but in my opinion i wouldnt be comfortable  over 4600-4700 but thats just me on that set up i was only able to turn 5300 at wot and most of my issues came above 4500 my rocker arm failures were  all around the 4800 ranage but that was also after a few quick bursts to 5-5300 also iv never had my boat come out of the water and unload the pump but i would recodmend doing everything possible not to let it.

Hmm maybe ill look into some rollers pretty soon. Ive ran the boat hard. Its seen quite a bit of wot at 5100 and never had a problem except one trip last summer i held it so long i pump the valve covers full of oil and it filled my puke tank and covered my whole transom 😳.  When i went through the motor last year i did have one rocker bolt break when i was torqueing it. I replaced all 16 and havent had a problem

Ya i would even if its just the roller tip rocker and screw in studs i drilled and tapped my heads for 7/16 studs but im also running a roller cam and more spring pressure to go with it i don't  think you need to go that far. Let me see if i can find my old studs and if i can you can have them if you pick them up.

It was brought to my attention by the man himself that the phone number I posted for Danny Roslan's Performance shop was wrong and I have corrected it above.   If'n any of you guys want a fast reliable Olds, don't waste money with Mondello or anyone else.  Go the the guy who actually does the work.   He's in Paso but he will build stuff for anyone.  Give him a call at 805-237-1974
