it is not that hard to do your self and you can save alot of money

I used Adams Metalizing in Lancaster for my short block and valve job. They did a great job at a reasonable cost. With no traffic it's about 1 1/2 hour drive from you. Check out their website.

if all your going for is stock, you may look into buying a rebuilt motor already done?  could be cheaper. and much faster.

Id trust a used 100,000 mile BBC out of a dually/suburban first.    theres your marine clearances
Or build it yourself, Its not rocket surgery or brain science, just a chebby.
What went wrong on that 454? maybe fix and refresh?

I am not real good at translating drunk posting but what exactly was your problem with Wayne's and when?  I have been taking stuff there for over 30 years, from SBC's to a 472 in. Hemi that went in a $100,000 Superbird.  2 months ago I took them 2 different blocks AND they rejected them both because of cracks/repairs that were poorly done by someone else, and very hard to see.  They have outlasted every other machine shop in the area they must be doing something right.  PM me if you like.

A &D engines he is here on the boards, his name is dave he does very good work..
there is a thread here somplace (i cant find it) when Brad built his engine at his shop after Dave did all the machine work...

he is the only one i will use after seeing and working with him
