Decision has been made...

On the hunt to repower with a 6.0l lq9.  8) lighter weight, more horsepower, and better economy. But more cost upfront. The lightning headers are the worst brunt of cost. So be it. It's only money I'll make more.... :banghead:

Dunno what an LQ9 is. But an LS2 or 3 makes an EXCELLENT momo in one of our squirtguns from what I have seen!  ;)

Been getting conflicting info here?? Some say I need the bbc to get the down low torque for my big barge. Should I just stick with the big block? If so I would probably go with an aluminum headed 496,lightning headers, and a nasty roller cam. ???

The pump dont care whats in front of it, its all thrust. an lq9 or a bbc turning 5000 r's will have the SAME thrust. weight is the diference in the two combos, If the weight diff is 250 lbs, all else being equal, the lighter combo will be faster. It seams that the ls motors are easier to spin faster LONGER, because of all the roller stuff. A bbc can do it with a lot of money thrown at it, but I'm biased toword smallblocks. I gained 5-7 mph going from BBF (stock) 52 mph, to sbc (stock) 57-60 mph. (this is in an 18' bowrider)

either are wise choices, depending the parts on hand and where you want to go.
