Im having alot of issues wiring this thing up. Rite no i have no spark. The ecu is wired completly separate from the new hardin marine harness and stereo, and power inverter. the ingnition is also separate, msd 7-al. all brand new. fast distributor and ecu. everything is wired to instruction. no spark. I think it might be the coil but its brand new? Any ideas. I hope its something simple. 468 bbc.
I am currently working on my BBC 8-71 EFI project with a bugcatcher, see my other posts. I am running accel thruster dfi. What you need to make sure is that the crank or cam signal from the distributor is wired correctly to the ECU. I do not know much about FAST system but there is a guru on PB. His user name is Unchained. He even helped me get a MAP (tune/program etc) to get my engine running on my engine stand.
Does your fuel pump come on when the engine cranks. I ask this becuase if the ecu sees an ignition pulse, the fuel pump will come back on during cranking. The ignition pulse output of the ecu (again I am relating this to my accel DFI) needs to be wired back to the MSD box labeled "points". Also the ecu should power up the MSD when you turn the key on and run position. Do not confuse the MSD 7-al main power and ground wires with this. Speaking of grounds, make sure all the grounds from the ecu are grounded to the battery and not the block. The input to the ecu needs to come from a crank or cam signal on your dist. I am running a crank trigger so my input to the ecu is just a crank signal as I do not a cam signal cause I am running batch fire and not sequential injection.
I re-wired my DFI harness from end to end to get it to fit on how I wanted it. The first thing I did when I took it out of the box was cut it up. Crazy, but it all fits like I want it to.
