Hey GT I've heard about the oil pressure cut of is that the law here in Cali/ AZ I could see why it would be a good idea and now the dumb question what do you have to do to get the pump running before the motor fires

The only "law" I can think of would fall under the United States Coast Guard. So I guess you could say Federal law.
The way I see it is is just a good practice.
Let's say the needle stuck open bad enough to kill the motor, but there is nothing to kill the pump, it fills/spills fuel all over the engine, you go to crank it with your Auto Zone POS starter, BNAG... (very few of you will get that lol).
The switch is a three prong deal, the pump is energized with the start circuit with no oil pressure and the ignition circuit with oil pressure. It's essentially a double throw switch and the common goes to the pump power lead.
