Eliminator Questions
« on: June 18, 2007, 01:24:34 PM »
Ok I have a rather large Jet boat and I have a blown head gasket. She never got hot but it is bad enough that she was missing a bit and a little water in the oil. I am replacing the gasket and want any hints or advice on putting a little mor umph! on her without breaking the bank. Big Block Chevy with old school logs. Also have a question about what I need to do if I wanna run my exhaust above the water line. She is real dirty here from the lake being so nasty from the recent flood. The gelcoat is original as are the seats.

OT Headers is an easy way to get a bit more HP.  You just need the headers, water injection lines, replumb the current water lines, and block off plates to cover the holes from your old exhaust.  It will get a lot louder though.  I can't tell from the pics, but if the engine is currently covered you will have to remove it.  They also get VERY hot.  Using the swim steps will require a lot more care not get burned.

Taco'd "a person or people that show up with one lake lice and a family of 50 and cram 3 people at a time on it with no disregard to boating rules or ethics. Usualy crap in toilets and throw shit paper in trash cans. Hang out at the boat ramp like its a swimming hole. Have zero insurance on anything they own and dont give two shits less about your property."

I'd start with a tune up .
New plugs , wires , cap , rotor.

carb rebuild wont hurt anything othe than the check book .

Check your timing .

I ran across SS polished lightings for $800. I dont think moving the exhaust above the water line is going to help performance either .

Are those water jacketed? for 800? The moving them above the water line thing wasnt a hope for power, it was more of a desire to be heard.

I found this maybe you can use them. He is selling  Polished Indmar Exhst Manifolds/Risers, w/Gaskets for a $100. Sounds like a heck of a deal.
