water guage

i would like to install a water guage to watch the block pressure.. would i be able to install npt pipe/elbow to the 7/8 bolt underneath the thermostat housing? im not exactly sure what that passage is for, anyone know? if i were able to monitor block pressures there would it be accurate? if not what be my best option? the other coolant passage on the manifold is my temp sensor. thanks in advance.

The front port on the manifold is for the water pump bypass in a car/truck, should be 1/2" pipe threads, use a streeter brass elbow to mount gauge

i have my water temp sensor mounted in that hole. works fine.

That's not going to work. I just tried that the other day and with the engine running the gauge did not move. My friend did it as well. W/o a thermostat there is not enough pressure built up in that area. You can hook up a garden hose splitter at the gate valve on your jet and put a gauge on that but you won't be able to see the pressue while driving. Also, if I were you I'd convert that valve on the intake to a gate valve like you have on your jet. This will allow for a more precise adjustment.

BBC w/headers kept leaking at the intake to head, threw a guage in that port (water bypass port) ang pegged the gauge (50 lb gauge) slowed down the water with the gate valve and water pressure was at 18-22 lbs, but thats on a jacuzzi wj pump turnin 5500 rpm
