ok guys hears the deal built my motor up a couple seasons back and it has been flawless. have taken it to el cap 3 times this season with no issues but decided to make a trip to the river and started blowing oil out the breather and getting warm not hot but ran up to 180 which it never does!
so i pulled up to the sandbar and took a quick look I had oil on the driver side only coming from the valve cover breather so I just decided to enjoy the weekend get a tow, trailer it, and catch a ride with friends. now im home and pulled the plugs number one cylinder got hot but all other plugs look fine can someone help shed some opinion on this. should I tear it down? it doesnt even wanna crank over now and the motor only has like 100 hours maybe!......Mike
With all the plugs out, can you turn it over with a wrench on the balancer bolt? If not,, maybe disconnect the driveline and make sure the pump isn't causing the drag?
Maybe try draining the oil filter into a clean pan to inspect for debris. You can also pull the valve covers to look for debris.
Before I would tear an engine down, I would check and test a number of things,, a leak down test helps to let you know if valves or rings have a sealing issue. You could do a simple compression test if the engine turns over properly, but it's not as good as a leak down for indicating the condition of the engine.
