Freeze plugs.

Quick question here. Removed old freeze plugs and they was brass. None of the local parts stores have brass ones. Are the steel ones ok or do I need to find some brass ones?

steel is fine if you're running a closed loop cooling system with coolant... but it wont last long with straight water. use brass.

Most real auto parts stores will carry individual brass freeze plugs. Stay away from steel unless you want to replace them every season.

Believe it or not, I ran into this same issue a while back. BBC's aren't as popular as they used to be for road use anymore. Most auto parts only carry what moves these days. You may have to order them from some place like Summit. Definitely brass.

Unfortunately, their systems are so lame, unless you know what car the crap came in and what color the vinyl seats are, the minimum wage goofball behind the counter wouldn't be able to find it anyway...
