Last year when I put it away it ran fine I recently tried to start to get ready for boating season ( live in iowa soo lol )  anyway I have no spark while cranking the motor over but as soon as I turn key off it will for hard once. Anyone have any ideas lol I replaced ign switch. Ballast resistor. coil ....I'm stumped

Maybe try a temporary hot jumper to the coil, but put it on so you can pull it off to kill the engine.  Since you state that their is a ballast resistor, are you running points type distributor?

Anyway, if it can start with the jumper,,, either the ignition switch or wire from the switch is bad.  Note that the starter cranking terminal on the switch is separate from the "run".

Have you checked the coil voltage while cranking?

One thing you could try (caution; backwoods as hell) remove the distributor, run a jumper wire (jumper cables work good) to the body to a good ground, ground a spark plug and hook the coil wire to the plug and with the key on, spin the distributor gear.....She should make blue fire at the plug gap.....

This will test the entire ignition system....The only thing left would be the distributor not turning or a ridiculous voltage drop...

This test takes ten minutes and will tell you everything that it is not....Honestly it sounds like a failing ignition box, but don't think you are running one.... :screwy:

ok without being there or having you check things while im there or on the phone i do believe you have a ground issue. which is really a open. its time to start from the batt and work your way up.  will start with check that you have 12 volts at the batt, then make sure you have that at the key and  at your starter.next with the key in the off position (using a test light ) see what poles have power and which ones do not.none should have power except the batt pole. ok now turn the key to the on position.with  that done now check that you have power (12 volt) on 2 poles on your starter switch.you should now also have power to the coil. 12 volts!!! NOW here is where its gonna get tricky with just one person. turn the key to the start position!look for 12 volts if you do NOT have 12 volts to your dist! check it and double check it!!!! electrical can a real pain cause it may work for a second and the next not work. good luck and let me know!
