Going from mechanical secondary to a vacuum secondary

I have just switched my old holley out mech secondary for my edelbrock vaccum sec. question is where do i get my vaccum from ???? there are no ports on the intake . hell i have never had my vacuum advance hooked up since i bought the boat . Is that hurting anything?Thanks

Does your dizzy have a vacume port? why did you go from mechanical to vaccum more details. your carb should get its vaccum from the diaphram on the side of the carb which it gets its air from the intake,something like that.

yeah my dizzy has a vaccum port It has a rubber cap , and i upgraded from a 650 cfm to a 750 cfm thats why thecarb change.....is the edelbrock even a vacuum secondary?????

As I have said on numerous occasions, vacuum advance does not work well on a jet boat engine, don't have any issues with a vacuum secondary, but you will never get a vacuum advance to work worth a damn IMHO.... :thumbdown:

If you are talking about vacuum for your dist. advance, you want the port on the carburetor.  If you do not know which one it is, look up your carb on Edelbrock's website.

is the edelbrock even a vacuum secondary??  you'll see the ugly diaphram on the side of the carb.

Edelbrock makes a Carter AFB lookalike (vacuum suckmedaries) and a Quadrajunk lookalike (also a vacuum sucka)... :sly:

Neither of which have a dashpot diaphram dealio. ;)

I know most of your opinions on edelbrock but i got it for a 100 brand new and it is temporary until i can get my demon . So if what i am hearing is correct there is no external vacuum line i have hook up to the carb to get the secondaries to open on the edlebrock ???I also notice that the edelbrock has a shorter throttle throw from closed to wot .Is that normal . Thanks again guys i just am trying to sort this out before parker next weekend

Throw is determined by the length of the throttle arm, they still turn almost 90* from idle, you can lengthen the arm to slow the throttles resonse (can make it easier to drive in rough seas  :thumbup:)...
