Holley Carb Question

Need your help guys!

I got a new hard line for my b=carb today and took off the old cracked one. Right inside the connection to the carb there was a Gold thimble looking piece I assume was some sort of filter. I was spring loaded. Is this piece a necessity? What is it?

its a fuel inlet filter.

necessity? no. good to have? sure if you dont have a good filter inline... its just hard to get to/clean/inspect.

Thank you sir! I do have a decent inline. I was curious because the new hard line I bought doesn't have the same shape on the inlet that it sets in.

You need to make sure that the thread/fitting design is correct or you could end up with a leak (fire!).

I believe it 's also a restriction you
don't want, especially if you're
running a filter.

Get it out of there if you have a fuel filter in line already especially if you aren't running a high flow fuel pump
