I've always run enderle linkage, they have spherical ends, and a lot of adjustability. Downside is expect to pay $$$$. It isn't the $13 in line linkage from summit.
Sideways are great for tuning, and you can get to everything without much hassle. On enignes like the SB ford, there isn't any room, so you actually have to mount them sideways and reversed (offy does the linkage there) - while others it is no sweat to mount in line, even with the cathedral bowls and secondary metering blocks. All depends on engine and tr.
