Holly carb.
« on: December 21, 2014, 10:58:52 AM »
Need some help I currently have a only hp 950 and I need to change out the power valve to a 4.5. My question is does the hp series carbs use a different power valve then the standard carbs cause if they don't pepboys Napa or even oriley  carries them for about 10$$ but neither of them can tell me if it will work on a hp carb. Thanks in advance

The HP series is a 4150 based carb which will utilize standard jets and power valves.

Good luck,

So I talked to Holly Tec support about my carb issues they said to put in a 4.5 power valve and to NOT adjust the idle at the base plate but to do it pull the air cleaner stud out and you adjust it there on the hp serious carbs I don't see no adjustment screw there.  tho  is he wrong

If it is there, it will be way down in the bottom of the air filter stud hole.  You might need to grind a  screwdriver small enough to fit inside the .257 inch minor diameter of the 5/16-18 thread for the air filter stud.  My calibrated fuel leak doesn't have that feature, maybe because it is not a true HP series.

I'm trying to be more social.  This is my first attempt at social media.  How am I doing so far?

Yeah, I saw "The Machinist" in his avatar.
Just a little sarcasm. Not too many people described a hole down to the .000ths.  ;D
