How long between oil changes?
« on: January 06, 2008, 03:20:34 PM »
Reading the thread about installing a remote oil filter got me thinking; how often do you change your oil?

If you're tearing down your engine after a weekend of racing -it makes sense that it happens more often than the average user... but what about the rest of us?  So my last change was less than 30 hours of run time between changes.  Too long, too short?  I have a 10 qt. pan and two filters.    There are tons of variables that can dictate when to change.  I spend lots of time at idle and partial throttle vs. wide open, but never-the-less, what's your rule of thumb???

I change the oil in my boats about every 3 trips. Not because it needs a change but because by then the engine has broken.  :P

Taco'd "a person or people that show up with one lake lice and a family of 50 and cram 3 people at a time on it with no disregard to boating rules or ethics. Usualy crap in toilets and throw shit paper in trash cans. Hang out at the boat ramp like its a swimming hole. Have zero insurance on anything they own and dont give two shits less about your property."
