I have a 460 mild cam height distributor a impeller and only get 4800 is this about right or should I get more My timing is set at 12* with a vacuum advance that is not hooked up but capped off
Your going to be short on total advance of your base timing is only at 12° btdc.
You need to know what the timing is at 2,500rpm and higher.
4,800 is quite respectable IMHO
Just remember, the impellers job is to absorb power, so don't expect a miracle, with around 30° to 32° total timing, I wouldn't be shocked to see another 50-100 rpm.
Be sure to listen for detonation and periodic inspection of the spark plugs for signs of preignition are crazy important. That last 50rpm is not worth blowing the engine up over.
