Souls I be worried about idling at 1100 rpm for long periods through channel(Havasu) with out loading up?

If your engine isn't over heating your fine. Are you running water injected OT headers? If so make sure you don't have water coming out below 1600-1800 rpms.

Yup my idle is set about 900-1100.

my idle is ~800 or so.  you mentioned in another thread that you had some ridiculous cam in it... is that why you're idling so high?  my only worry is that at 1100 you're gonna be flying thru no wake zones.  on a busy weekend that might not be much fun wrangling it around in fwd/reverse.

Should virtually never see above 160, that is even hot.

Organic compounds including salt (I know, just thought I would mention salt) solidify at above 160*F, with a 180 degree leaving water temp, there are spots in the engine at greater than 220degrees unless you are running a block mounted automotive style water pump... Food for thought.

My boat idles at 1,100 and the small block at about 1,200 RPM, I don't see any problems, if it loads up, you may consider looking into drilling idle holes into the butterflies to get the carburetor butterflies back down into the idle circuits, this will make it run better at idle and you will be able to tune the idle circuits, also locked out timing engines tend to idle more smoothly as well.....

Don't just take a drill to the butterflies, let me know if you need help with this and I can see what I can do. I have done it a ton....

Typically you will see a spike right after a cruise and might even see a oil pressure drop at same time. Generally a couple minutes of idle and they both go right back to norm or once you go again they are right back.
