ignition switch
« on: April 21, 2011, 06:51:18 PM »
I replaced my ignition switch because the only way I was able to turn the boat off was when the key was in the off postion but I would have to shake the key side to side till the engine would shut off. So I replaced the ignition switch and the engine will still not shut off. Can someone  help me or guide me in the right direction.

do you have a little diagram/write up of how the ignition key is currently connected?  there should be a constant 12v from battery, one to starter solenoid, and then a 12v out to the ignition system.  when the key is off, theres no power to the ignition, when its on the ignition circuit should have 12v, when the key is turned to start it should send 12v to the starter relay/solenoid.
