i dont want to jack your post but i'm going to. >:D

2sav donated this to my race boat, thanx 2sav i just got it back from being rebuilt $295.00 still cheaper than new.

i think i understand how it goes together but my steering post is too short, i need to be as far away from the dash as possible. (tom can you help ???)

and wtf is this for ??? the shaft has no key way cut into it but it is tapered

my cable is 3/16's if it matters can i use my steering ext i have now since it is tapered ???
thanx ralph

Typically they have a roll pin as a locator instead of a key

Looks great Tom & Josh, I'll be drilling some holes in the dash this weekend to mount that post. I was playing with the steering and it looks like I can add a little extension to it to get my feet out from under the dash. I real dig that tiller arm setup you built. Wanna make another one? Thanks for your support,

I've got one of those dumb questions.  What is the advantage or purpose of the cable and double tiller steering over the single push pull steering like most jets have?  You guys did a great job but I don't understand the purpose.  To me that is the old style of steering you put on out board motors for steering.  I think I still have some of that cable around here and it must be 40 years old now.

some of the advantages are, you can eliminate most of the slack, and it pulls in each direction

That is a pretty large rotary table for that mill drill set up, it would fit my Bridgeport perfect though. ;D
Are you drilling x holes every xxx.xx degrees or just eyeballing it. Did you indicate the center hole. Looks like a cool project.

One hole every 120 degrees ;)  I made a pilot to center it in the rotary table, and give me somthing to clamp down on.   Had the thing for over a year started using it recently, its got me throwing rocks at the lathe on many tasks.
