Log exhaust

So I found some rex marine ss tips that are a true 4 in all the way and wondered if id benefit any by cutting the step down on my snails and running a 4 inch hose and these tips off my logs and snails?

Worth cutting the holes on the back of the transom to 4 inch?

I cut my HM snail step to make a solid 3 1/2...thought about 4" tips by just adding a small bit of 3 1/2 to the snail then 4 over it all...I say anything to help out a log/snail is good. There is a guy on PB that has a set(ss 4") for bout 50 bucks...I bought other stuff from him a week or so ago. http://www.performanceboats.com/parts-sale/121786-misc-hardware.html
I bought my ss 3 1/2 set for 100 new. The butterfly blows out fairly easy which sux.

are you sure the OD of your log exhuast is a true 4"? i thought it was like 3 1/2"?

if its 3 1/2" you'd have to make up the difference with some tubing inside of tubing which is kinda hokey... not sure id want it coming loose and having a 4" hole in the back of my boat all for the what... 2hp its going to add if any?

its a bummer that sites like cpperformance run sales on 4" stainless tips for almost 2 years now, yet the 3 1/2" ones are full price at like $125. i hit them up a long time ago and they basically said "go away jet boater!"

Keep in mind that with logs and snails you really need to have flappers in the outlets. Especially when the tips are underwater with the boat at rest.

Not necessarily true with center riser.
