Tonight I looked at and tomorrow morning I'm going to go look at again a 18' v hull walk through with a Mariner 75 on it. The owner know's nothing about the boat and has had the boat out on the water only one time, which was with the previous owner at the "controls". The engine is supposed to be pretty fresh and when I pulled the cover off of it I believe it to be true. The last time the engine was run was Christmas vacation '06. It has a ? 5 ? gallon gas tank feeding the engine with the bulb thingy on it. I pulled one of the spark plug wires off of one of the plugs and the purple spark jumped about 1/2" !! so I believe the spark to be good. The damn thing wouldn't start. I pumped up the bulb thingy and after 20 or so pumps the bulb did get hard eventually, but if I walked away from the bulb got soft within 15 seconds. A friend of mine said that's OK because it just gets the gas to the carb. When the engine is cranking it sounds good and jumps around a bit which my friend told me probably means it has compression. The boat for it's year is really nice, has power trim and tilt, is big enough for my family, will be cheaper to use than a jet boat, and is cheap for what it is at $1,000 OBO. I think I'm going to spray starting fluid in it tomorrow morning provided I can find the carb(s) (?). I couldn't find a choke lever or button (?), uhmmm...   

Any help would be appreciated!   

I haven't bought the boat yet so pics will be a little tough (verses soft or hard).   

Apparently if you push the ignition key in and hold it in while starting the engine you are turning on the electric choke!     Turning on the choke does wonders for in helping to start an engine that hasn't been started in 5 months.   

So the boat ran great once I figured out how to start it. I think that BKPlesh told me how to turn on the choke but I'm not sure how I figured it out...     but I did (or was told) and the mo fo runs like a champ. I took it out on the lake for about 45 minutes.

It's a little bit slower than the average jet boat.      

Sound hull, original gel coat, seats 7 (6 in the family), has a recently rebuilt Mariner 75 HP outboard, reasonably clean interior with no tears or rips, $1,000.00.   

FOR 1000  I WOULD OF   BOGUHT IT  TOO
