Milky oil in heads but not in oil pan
« on: August 21, 2018, 05:13:12 PM »
Just started the boat the other day, then took off the valve covers to check things out. Noticed small amount of milky oil in the heads but none in the oil when i pulled the dipstick. Why would there be oil in the heads but not in the oil pan? Its a stock big block chevy and im just running logs and snails. Thanks for any help.

140° with logs and snails is plenty while underway. 150°-155° in the no wake zone.

170°+ is too hot for a jet boat motor.

Ok cool. Thanks for the help. What about a thermostat? Should i use one? Right now i just have a valve from the pump to control water flow.

If it is not set up for a thermostat, like a mercruiser, then no.

Just use the valve at the pump.
Once it is set, you won't have mess with it.

Can condensation turn the oil in the pan milky?

Took mine out for the first time since a full restore and noticed mist coming from the breathers so I shut it done and found a pan full of milky oil.
