MSD or Mallory ?

I have a Jacobs running a Mallory dis. and its crazy good.. And I also have a street fire msd hei have only replaced the mod once.. There both really good and most people will say they like msd better.(and don't know why). I think there a little under powered for what they claim. But not anything your going to notice on a mild built BB..

MSD is sweet..have it on my drag car and on my boat..vibration gets to it every so often and could have to short the box to reset the system...only my personal experience since i live on a dirt road..not saying this will happen to you..but thats what MSD told me.

i mounted the box in the camaro on rubber mounts and have never had this issue again..im interested to see what im in for on my MSD7 on the boat.

have friends who swear by the Mallory..both seem to be a great unit. whichever you choose will be fine im sure. just wanted to share my .02

Just buy an HEI set up from summit. They are like 150 bucks. Slam it in and never worry about it again.

if you do go with an MSDupgrade the coil from a standard Blaster unit. it will save you headaches down the road..some may be using them with no issues but most engine issues i have had has been caused by that damn blaster coil..just because it runs doesnt mean its fine

If you plan on running the mallory make sure you get the power filter for it!!!!

The mallory's are very sensitive to power spikes. It WILL leave you stranded!

Only if its a unilite...  I have a regular mech advance unilite with the blue marine cap and power filter/ballast. Might want to have an extra module in you boat bag just in case. I have also spun the pin on my dizzy and keep an extra one of those. The cheaper unilite will work the same.

I prefer Mallory all the way. Been running the Mallory Comp 9000 for years & its never failed me. the only draw back is that it won't fit on a double tunnal ram.
