Anyway today i came home with a new project for the winter....time for the old 429 to be retired eventually and time to get some displacement in there....so i made a purchase and the guy was honest telling me the motor was locked up...basically i bought it for parts...i got alot of it torn down tonight as well...still gotta pull the pan but the top end already tells most of the story...

Found yer problem. The blue can inside the duct tape.

im not saying to try to save it in its current condition im saying some machining needs to be done here...i dont like the pistons either....i really didnt like the piston to wall clearance either....i could see the rings looking straight down on top of the piston...but if i can get the crank cut line hone cylinder bore and put her back together the way i would like i'll be happy...if mine was a 460 i would rebuild it, but hey the boat runs might as well do this one

p.s. sorry bout the cell phone pics my camera is being held for ransom in cali...i was told it was to make sure that i make it down there sometime this winter...oh well...for what i paid for this thing i am ok with what i see...unless i cant reuse the crank and rods...we will see nothing is set in stone as of now

hey nordie is your jet setback in that thing?how does it ride?

It rides great just hear they don't like a lot of hp thrown at them and aren't stable after 70's...jet is not set back or anything...
