Not good
« on: August 11, 2015, 07:04:03 PM »
Ok not going to worry about header inserts. New problem I have a cracked fuel tank. Went to get inside to clean out and when I did I stepped into the center floor full of fuel. I'm fucked. Can't find the problem looked at all the fuel lines to carb and no leaks so now pull out fuel tank and see what is the problem.

Keep your head up, I think we have all been there with these things. When I was adding larger pickups my tanks, one rolled off my bench and the filler neck area cracked. I did not notice till I put the tank in and filled it up. Had to take it all out again and weld it back up.

No doubt.

I had a shop years ago and we got in a brand new 20.5 Advantage River Cruiser that the dude brought in for a fuel smell. Harry was still alive back then and I brought it in as a favor.

The guy was from out of state and headed to Shasta Lake for a week to a family reunion. The tank had a bad weld.  Literally filled the ski locker, carpet, 3/4 the way up the seat  bases, ruined everything.

Needless to say, the boat he bought special to go to the lake with with his family never made it.

He took my boat instead.

Advantage had to send me a tank,  all the carpet, most of the interior just to get it fixed up new.

So it definitely happens to everybody, just feel good you caught it now and not 10 miles upriver with family and friends in the boat.
