Oil filter remote housing questions
« on: February 12, 2017, 08:22:05 PM »
Just wondering if it matters if the oil filter is upside down or right side up ?
Just wondering if it would effect cold start up oil pressure?

Makes a huge difference when you go to change it.  I will never do that again!

I also believe that it helps to bleed air if the fittings are on top.

Lol ok but oil filter upside Down wouldn't cause delayed oil pressure on cold start  up ?

What do you mean "delayed oil pressure"?

All depends on what oil filter and how high the filter is installed in relation to the pan.

I think it's best to hit the starter until oil pressure registers on the gauge and then energize the ignition.

Other than that, I don't worry about it.

Mounting the filter horizontally or fittings down prevents you from filling the new filter with oil during an oil change.  I believe that using the pump to fill the filter(s) after an oil change would be more detrimental.
