Hey, Im building a motor finally and need to know where to find an oil pan pickup tube? Im having no luck. Its a GIL and Im not sure the quart amount. I was hoping to find a website that would show me what to measure and where I can order the damn pickup! Thanks.

Many times (more often then not) the jet boat pans are made with a standard passenger car (or truck) oil pan and have a box fabricated to them for more capacity and baffles....Meaning it would use a standard type pick up for a passenger car. Measure the pan like Obnoxious says and let me know what the measurement is, I have a Mellings master catalog that has numerous different pickups for about anything you can dream up. The pick up tube on my Dooley pan is for a '70 454 Chevelle. But it also fit 30 or so other applications..

Hows 7 3/4 inches to the top sound? Thats from the deepest part where it looks like the pickup would sit.

OK, a "stock" pickup should work if it will fit in the pan, a photo would help determine that.  Whatever pickup you do buy, you will want to make sure it sits close enough to the bottom of the pan with it's all bolted up.  3/8" is generally considered to be the correct distance to allow adequate oil flow while still being close enough to the bottom to lessen the chances of sucking air as the oil moves around.
