Oil pressure

Anyone here run both mechanical and electric oil pressure gauges? Thinking about running my original electric guage up front and a mechanical one off the motor. That way I can always be sure I'm having oil pressure by looking at mechanical one. Sometimes never know with electric. My uncle has his set up like this. Also wondering if you guys know what fittings I need. I want to have it like my uncles but not sure exactly where I can find these exact fittings

If I may be so bold.

Do not run an oil pressure gauge directly mounted to the engine. It will vibrate apart and blow the oil everywhere. Been there and done it. I would much rather see you run an idiot light in conjuction with the gauge.

I used to use an Auto Meter shift light.

I do. It's more accurate than electric.

Actually quite simple.

I will see if I can get you the part number from the switch I used.

I have a 15 pound switch I picked up from NAPA. It has one wire connection, it screws into a pipe thread hole and grounds directly to the block.

You run a wire from the ignition terminal of the key switch to one side of the light and the other side of the light to the terminal on the switch. I also have a buzzer from Mercury Marine, but you can't hear it over the headers.

Yea sweet. That'll help.. are you able to see the light? Well hopefully you never had to see it b4 lol but I mean would it be bright enough? If i use one of those little indicator lights instead of shift light

Also, how would i know what sending unit to buy? I think I've read somewhere that if the guage pegs out then most likely it's a short or wrong sending unit. I belive last season my guage would peg out with the ignition on but when the motor was running it would drop and read. Not to sure how it was. Just wanting to know ahead of time cus planning on taking it out this weekend and break in the motor/cam. Thanks

Then could could use the leftover wire for the panic light.

You can buy a gauge isolator too.

This keeps the oil from potentially getting squirted all over the place in case of a line failure. I'm probably overthinking it though.

I use a -4 braided line. Works well and no bs to deal with.

I ended up ordering a sender for the brand gauge I have. Hopefully that solves my problem with guage pegging out. Vdo brand
