Olds 455 dipstick help
« on: June 17, 2015, 11:36:42 PM »
So when I went to put the headers on . I accidentally broke the old dipstick tube. It was ready when I put it in the block so I knew it was going to happen eventually. I ordered a new one from summit. When i  went to put it in and could literally throw it in so I thought maybe they sent me a small block one. I ordered one from cp, and I'm having the same problem. The old one I would have to tap in. But these just fall in. Should I just put it in, silicone it an call it a day or is their something else I'm missing here?

I never had an issue with them being too loose. In fact the ones I've ordered all were a little too big and wouldn't fit through the block. Had to take my bench sander and little at a time shave it down to the point I could tap it into place.
