Olds 455 fuel pump issue

Went to fire her up for the first time this season and not getting fuel. I primed the pump throu the put hose. Still no go. Pulled the pump off my spare motor. Same problem. I then checked the pumps and they both pump manually. What could be wrong in the motor that it would not make the pump work. Motor starts with starting fluid. I'm stumped. Any ideas? Nothing has been taken apart since last season.

tanks full??? see if the pickup in the tank is clogged ! get a gas can put a line from gas can to punp then see if the motor starts.

I have gas to the pump just fine. just does not come out of the pump. I can pull the pump out and manually pump it and the pump works. I know it rides on a cam inside the motor. does anyone have a diagram of this?

If you look down the square hole the fuel pump goes in you will see this round cap on the end of the cam that is off center so when the cam turns it pushes the fuel pump shank every turn so it pumps fuel out the outlet.If that piece is worn or the shank coming off the fuel pump is worn it will not push the fuel pump shank enough to pump any fuel out the outlet of the fuel pump. Can you provide a picture of the fuel pump shank?

I had a BBC that the fuel pump lobe on the cam was flat, that why it had an electric on it when I got it, other lobes were worn too.
Sounds like that may be your problem.

on the olds its just a round spacer like with a hole drilled in it and a center pin that makes it walk out to get the pump to cycle i had the same issue and i just went with an elec pump

didnt read all posts but ya this is how it works mine didnt pump either tho and it was brand new.
