Sometimes it's just worth paying a polishing shop to do it. They have the high speed buffing wheels and the jewelers rouge to do a nice job. But depending what kind of manifold it is, it can get costly. I've layed out almost $400 to get a tunnel ram polished, but there was no way I could make it shine like they did.

Has it been polished before?  If so, it just takes patience to get it back to a nice shine.

Now, if it has never been polished before I'd recommend just taking it to the guys that do it all the time.  The work/time to get it from a raw casting to polished is crazy.

heres what my scoop looks like after wetsanding 400 -> 600 -> 800 -> 1000 -> 1500 -> 2000 -> 2500 then buffing with a bench grinder and white rouge, then green rouge, then finalizing with Mequiars polish



it was already polished, but very tarnished from sitting around for years in someones attic.

Try Flitz paste polish after everything else, it is amazing.
