procomp elec fabricated valve covers...
« on: February 14, 2011, 12:25:52 AM »
anyone running these? curious as to what kind of bolts they use, also how are they with leaks? i dont see a lip to grab the gasket like my cheapy chrome moroso's do. any problems with the finish? its just one of those "its too good to be true" deals for me...

cant decide between:

and

the top ones look less busy with the bolts on the top, but then again... the bolts are on the top.

I bought mine at a car show...not sure the brand bbut look identical to those so possibly they are procomp...i like the ones i have with the tall bolts...also the kit came with the bolts....i took mine to have npt bungs welded in for evac setup...you can easily get a hole saw and drill the holes yourself....

I thought I posted a reply last night,, not sure if it got removed or why.  I had a photo of a pair of mine up.  I was not, and am not trying to sell my valve covers, I basically never sell them without being attached to an engine that I build.

I considered trying some of the Pro Comps, but after looking at them at their shop, found them to be substandard quality,, thin flange with rough edges, nothing to be put on a nice engine.

Thanks, I would be happy to supply them plain, no engraving, or can even get custom engraving for you, but he does get some kind of setup charge.

I'd be willing to purchase a pair of plain ones. I want the holes for the breathers for my puke tank. Got any laying around?

I don't keep any of the plain ones, but may be able to get them quicker than the CNC engraved ones.  They come with no holes, I drill each pair for the breathers myself.  I will check price and delivery time on some plain ones on Monday (Tues if they are closed for the holiday)

That should be possible, depends if it's worth paying the setup charge to get one set done?

Barry,

I love those valve covers.. they look so nice..  You really need to see these in person to really appreciate them. Great quality.

We sell lots of the ProComp rocker covers! Never had any issues. We usually get them without holes for the engines we produce so we can custom locate where the customer wants them( both in back, in the middle, etc). The lip deal to retain the gasket is irrelevant, we glue the gasket to the rocker on everything. We like their heads too, we just won't use any of their parts in them for marine use.  TIMINATOR

Yes,, when I told a couple of others who sent me PM's I think they had heart attacks.

Hopefully Pro Comp cleaned theirs up since I saw samples (at their warehouse) that looked like they had been cut out with an axe, completely unfinished edges even though they were polished.
