i would run a pcv valve set-up, and maybe a quart of marvel...i know the motor is getting good oil pressure, but i guess there is a reason it is pushing out the dipstick tube...hang on chromey to experts will be here soon!

Could be, since the engines been sitting awhile, the rings might be sticking to the pistons some. Some good runs with it, add some Marvel or Lucas too, frequent oil changes should fix it if it's blowby causing it, I would think.

I think Skip is battling the same issue with the Hallett and might resort to an evac setup to cure it.

i got another motor in my cruiser...had been sitting for a while, runs good but am getting blowby i think.....oil is pushing out the dipstick tube and making a mess and alittle bit of smoke and oil splatter out of the breather filter....just looking for some input or ideas to get it to stop.......thanks in advance

Not sure you have spelled out the entire story.  This engine was new or used prior to "sitting for awhile"?  My first guess is that you have a ring issue, but really can't guess why without at least a little more information.  Do you have a PCV valve and one single breather?  Check the PCV valve to make sure it's working, and the vacuum line to it is not cracked.  It's possible that corrosion and/or rust might have the rings sticking, or caused the rings not to seal to the cylinders.  A leakdown test would help confirm that the problem is rings or not.  

If the rings are bad, you will be pushing crank pressure past them, and you can either pull it apart and fix the problem, or you could band aid using a puke tank instead of breathers.    

the motor was priorly used before sitting and before i got it started up....................
it is a 10 qrt pan.....i put in 8 quarts of castrol 20/50 and i bottle of lucas which reads full......so far i have lost a quart of oil into the bilge...................
i do have a pcv set up on one valve cover and a mushroon breather on the other......never seem to have this problem before eron the old motor...
after this last trip.....i towed a 18ft boat back to the dock and it was smoking out of the breather and pcv valve hole 

ihave good oil pressure and seems to run ok...i have a small exhaust leak i have to regoop up....next im going to pull the plugs to read them and pull a valve cover off and see whats going on in there while its running on the hose.........

as far as internal specs.....im not sure?
im just tring to be careful with this one so it can stay running for a long time...
