Quick question

This might be a dumb question but is the vent tube from the spark arrester supposed to connect to something or does it just hang down in the bilge?

Usually it goes to your fuel pump.

The vent tube is supposed to go to the back diaphragm on a marine mechanical fuel pump.

The theory is if the fuel pump fails, the secondary diaphragm pumps raw fuel up into the carburetor killing the engine, essentially shutting off the fuel flow.

If you do not  run the hose to the carb. Is it ok to just cap off the breather to the fuel pump. Always wondered what was attached to fuel pump

The boat has velocity inlet with air cleaner. There is nothing attached to fuel pump I never know what went there.

Just leave it open. I mean you could install a bulkhead fitting in the stack, but I'd just leave the port on the pump open.
