Hey any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. So I was changing my oil on my 454. And I used a oil filter wrench on the filter and it wouldn't budge. The wrench pierced the can too. So I stopped and grabbed the strap style wrench. It tore up the can. I was using the strap wrench as far up to filter rim as I could.... And yes I was turning it the right way. Not much room between the stringer/log and filter. I am thinking that I will have to pull the motor unless someone has a trick. I don't think the screwdriver trick will work considering the can is tore up.

knock on wood ive only had to do the screwdriver trick once...

tomorrow i have to change the oil in the fx37.  hopefully its not impacted on from the factory.  i dont have tools for oil filters i just use my bitch slappin hand...

how about a pair of large channel lock pliers!

Never had much success going that with the engine in the boat. Just no room...

take out your rear bellhousing bolt next to the oil filter, the bolt probably is to long and indented the oil filter, therefore acting like a set screw,  that is useally the problem, that hole is not a dead hole it goes all the way thru
