so this weekend at blythe was awsome. but had a little problem with the hallet IO.


so she just stopped working while we were out on the river when i brought it back i started trouble shooting and i found one of the spark plugs. #4 cylinder was melted. the electrode part was pretty much gone. what are some possibilities of causing this.

the motor is a 383 with torker heads. and i did not change the carb at all. it is the stock marine quadrajet that hallet put on it from the factory. could this carb not be enough or maybe the jets are too small causing the motor to run lean at wide open throttle.??

oh ya the rear 4 plugs looked wet and the front 4 looked dry? anyway just wanted to pick your brains for ideas. cause  we will be back on the water on thursday

Are you running pump gass?

Sounds to me like a classic example of detonation to me.......

Tony, I would check the easy(free) stuff first.  Timing too advanced, spark plug heat range(maybe too hot a plug), AF mixture too lean caused by vacuum leak, leaky intake gasket, clogged jets, weak fuel pump, dirty fuel filter.
