Roll bar- light bar with HID lights for night rides!
« on: February 19, 2010, 11:36:42 AM »
What do you guys think about this. I'm doing it either way. My brother is gonna fab me up a 4 point polished alum removeable roll-light bar, similar to those aussy boats. I going to put 3-4, 10-12inch hid lights and 2 led red ones pointing back at the roost. I hate having to park my boat when it gets dark. Night rides would be some good smooth water and a ton of fun. And I know. watch out for sand bars. Has anyone done this or seen it. It would be cool if I was the first. What do you guys think about doing this. Ill post pictures of the build and if I works out good I wouldn't mind making more of em to have some one to play with at night. lol. that sounded gay. I would do a slow pass of where I'm going to drive and check for sand-rock bars and other boats to make sure its safe then do some hot laps till I run out of fuel and wake up the river a bit.lol.

heres the deal, i as well as 95% of other jet boat guys would not do it. i think they are ugly and take away from the classic lines of our hulls.

now i have seen full on high back captains chairs in jet boats :o and every body makes fun of them. but what i see is a guy using what he's got or personalizing HIS boat to his liking. It's your boat build it how you like and give us some pics, we may not like it but, i for one like to see a guy building what he likes.

Like the rest of my boat, I will make it look good and its going to be removable so wont be seen during the day. but thanks for the comment, I will post the pics and job when I start it. I need to re mount my bender and get a die for it. aside from the lights and elbow grease this will be dirt cheep.

not too sure if that USCG legal.

i believe youre allowed to use a spot light, but not fixed lights (ie headlights) and the rear facing red lights are not legal either.

i inquired about a rear facing transom light and was told its illegal even with the 360 degree pole light.

im not 100% on it, but i would look into it before you put too much into it and find out you cant even use it.
