I am fixing an intake oil leak and was wondering weather I should use rubber or cork end gaskets to go across the valley?  Is one better than the other?

I've had real good luck using a thick bead of grey RTV at each end and not using the gaskets at all.

I agree also.  With an aluminum intake (Edlebrock) they tell you to just use silicone.  I tried rubber and it worked for a few trips and blew out a little (leak).  Now I just use a THICK bead of the grey, sit the intake on it and hand tight.  Then after about 20-30 minutes tighen a bit more and finally torque after about an hour.  Has worked for me so far (On a Ford)

Using a rubber always seems to retain the lube for me; on the other hand, no matter how many times I put a cork her mouth somehow she manages to keep bitching....

Trash the end seals, "peen" the end seal ares of the block and manifold lightly with a punch and small hammer then use a bead of "right stuff" (sealant)
on the ends ,the stuff "vulcanizes" and will not leak been using it for years and lots of motors never found a better product .. my 02

Right, what you got hangin out you got hangin in. So save the blades for blow. I use black RTV and just enough to get a nice little bead sticking out that you can see. I bumped the bead comming down with the manifold one time and it had a little whoopty in the bead so the guy I was working for told me that was ametureish, very ametureish. So I told him Fuc you I quit. It was a big ole cast iron tri-power 409 manifold, shit happens.
