Spark plug wires
« on: April 17, 2018, 03:01:29 PM »
Going to switch over to an MSD ready to run ignition and was thinking of running the plug wires with 90 boots on both ends to have the wires run under by headers. Has anyone ran this on there boats?

Awesome motor looks great. Now it’s time to measure for wires.

Did not know if it would affect anything. Just thought it would look cleaner. Bought my first boat which is a fixer upper and just starting to upgrade parts and clean her up.

Just make sure you have a good arc with the wire underneath with the boot pointing straight down. Using the wire loom retainers helps immensely.  I bought mine through summit. I think they were Taylor brand.

One more question regarding the distributor. Do I need a vacuum advance or can I buy one with out. Just wondering what it would go to some my old points distributor does not have one.

Hey fellas ,
What are the pro and cons with running them under with 90s and or straight ? I just redid mine and ran them straight.

I really think it's just preference,  whatever you think looks better. I like underneath because if a wire comes loose or something it wont melt on the headers. Had that happen once.
