Just wondering what many of you do after rebuilding motor and breaking in new cam. I know I need to run it above 2000 rpm for over 20 min. That a lot of water flowing down the street and noise for my neighborhood. I can just image the water police being called. Just wondering what some of you do. I guess I could truck out to Lake Elsinore and try to break it in there. Any thoughts?
Well, I use a bucket and a bilge pump and run the hose in the bucket to control temperature. It reduces the water used like you can't imagine.
I also use muffler headers.
Every time I do it at the lake, something always seems to go sideways.
Also to add to your 2,000 rpm, you need to Rev the engine every minute or so to splash some oil around. Run the engine at about 180°F if you can regulate it, the hot oil breaks things in more effectively, this is where the bucket really shines.
Several zip ties and a pair of diagnals come in quite handy. Use then to set the throttle speed.
One last thought, when the neighbor screams "THANK YOU! !!!!!" When you finally shut the engine off, start it right back up screaming "YOU'RE WELCOME! !!!"....
