super chiller install
« on: December 29, 2013, 11:51:04 AM »
I have a 454 with a 144 B & M blower with no chiller. I was thinking on putting a super chiller on it but can you run this without a sea stainner and just have a external pick up and dump. Thank in advance..

you want to force feed it off a pick up under the boat so while under way its cooling but at idle when not in boost (not making any heat) you're not pumping water through it.  yes you should use a strainer.  but it wont break the bank.

what are you gonna do about the pulley and the seat?

Thank for the advice. So I can use those type of strainers, that would be cool because the bullet ones are expensive. Right now it is on my wish list for a chiller. I just rebuilt my motor and just waiting for Jan at Lighting headers to finish my pipes. Thanks again..

IMHO the 144 blower does not generate enough heat/pressure to necessitate a chiller, it looks to me like it would be wayyyy more work than it would realistically be worth in the end.

I would rather see you cool the engine bay with some water coils...

Cool boat BTW.   8)

I bought that strainer for mine but on amazon, it was a lot cheaper then on graingers if you really want to pinch it, but just be careful when you tighten your fittings that you don't crack it, I painted mine :-)
