Just don't let her idle much, they're great for full on race stuff. I would totally recommend full on rollers if you go that way... ;)

The motor is solid lifter cam, Erson 1.72 roller rockers. Does that make any difference?

Why is this GT?  ???

At idle if you had poor man rocker arms (like me) the rockers tend to get pretty dry, I just use big pushrods and they are drilled and fitted with double rolled roll pins, (after all the name of the boat is White Trash) but I am only using Comp's roller tipped steel rockers so I can't over do it...

If you have full needle bearinged rollers it's way less of an issue, the solid lifters come into play as well becuase they dont need the oil to keep them firmed up. I run a hydraulic flat tappet and need all the help I can get on the lobes of the cam, so i have even grooved the bores, IMHO if it was a full race deal (mine is not) may be worth going the extra mile and getting it all, but I will never notice the difference using my Ass-o-nometer  ;D

I also do not use a high volume oil pump, my 468 uses a high pressure deal and works killer for the way the motor is set up (65# oil pressure at 5200 RPM and 40# at idle) plus windage is taken care of by some almost top secret mods... :sly:

I'm not looking for HP gains, the issue is my VC breathers taking the brunt of the oil the rockers sling around at speed, made a real mess of the boat last weekend.  The VC aren't baffled, yet, I used cheapo Auto Zoo breathers.  I got some K&N breathers on the way, I'm going to baffle the VC today, hopefully that'll cure my ills, if not, restrictors it is!

It may or may not solve that issue...The roll pin thing works right away, it very obvious and almost free (the roll pins cost about .12c each).  Ever considered an evac system? (like a puke tank or a gulp valve setup in the headers, or if your gonna dream, dream big and use a vacuum pump) What normally happens is the cranckase pressure ends up pushing the "free oil" out of the breathers and yea, very messy and frustrating...

Hope I didn't confuse the issue, but there are always easier cheaper ways of looking at a problem....

so do you just put the roll pin in the end of the pushrod? how do you know what size opening to leave? I've thought about a puke tank, but I just don't see it looking decent on my boat. I've also thought about venting the intake manifold in the valley area under the carb.  For now I just want a clean transom  ;D

So now I gotta give up all my secrets?

As far as venting, do you mean drilling holes in the intake on the bottom? I wouldn't.

Can you pick up some of the under cover baffleboxes and fit them to your V/C's?  I sometimes use the MOPAR type breather with the hose bib and put them to a bulkhead fiiting in the scoop, keeps the mess localized...

My valve covers are also not baffled on my BBC, what kind of K&N breathers did you order? I would like to get the same kind, because first time out this season I dont want oil all over lol.

im running hydraulic lifters and planning on running roller tip rockers, you think ill have oil all over the place? how well do puke tanks work, and are they worth it, or is a good crank case evap system that welds into the headers worth it?

You said worth it   ;D

Puke tanks work killer, never an oil spray problem with those, the oiling problem will be evident right away, upon decel the breathers will blow crap all over the place due to the cranckase pressure, it will also do it at WOT due to blowby, there are ways to help eliminate it, but there are numerous ways to do it, I'm not sure restrictors are the answer though, any one else have an opinion??

so run a hose from the breather on each valve cover to the puke tank and I should be fine? because ill have to buy the breathers that have push on hose fittings on the end.

Pretty much that simple, the puke tank has a vent on it so the pressure can be relieved and the added space in the tank allows the mist of oil to be settled out and collect in the bottom, which will have to be drained from time to time, I have seen them run back to the pan, but I don't like it much...Ever notice how opinions are like buttholes, everyone has their own.... ;D

personally the i think the best way is welding bungs into headers and running lines from the breathers to those bungs...however that isnt always necessary...gt is right tons of ways to go about it...i been thinking about doing the simple way and get a breather with a nipple and run a hose to the carb baseplate...with that in mind it creates a vacuum to help the crankcase vent...i started to notice im getting a fair amount of blow by...

lol i was just going to ask if you could run a little 1/4 line from the drain hole on the puke tank and dump it back into the pan. When you run the system that goes into tthe headers does it leave oil residue in the pipes and smoke when you run, or is it soo small of an amount that you wont notice it.

Here's the breathers I'm using
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=KNN%2D62%2D1490&N=700+115&autoview=sku

I talked to Ralph about this issue and I'm going to be cutting some 1.5" wide X 20 GA aluminum to bolt into the bottom of the valve covers to help keep the oil in.  We'll see what happens!

Thanks for all the help fellas.

The K&N's are my second choice , but i was still thinking bolt on?

Until I find a set of bolt on 30* that aren't going to cost me an arm and a leg, I'm running the K&N's, I can't use the cheaper type breathers that bolt on the top of the VC as my VC are finned so I need the type that go on the intake manifold side of the VC.  I used to buy them at Long Beach swap for $10 or $20 a pair, now the fuccers are like $50 a pair for used ones, the Offenhauser ones I really like are $65 EACH :screwy:

Puke tank is just a bunch of money I don't need to spend, it's not a race boat. The breathers I put on the Tahiti I got from Tom, Rex has some just like those for like $30 each, or was that CP? Shit if I remember. Check your PMs sweetie.
