Your oil might be fine. The counter weights are not dipping into the oil.
What happens is something called windage.
Basically stated, the beat frequency from the counter weights pulsate the oil and whips it into a bubbly/aerated liquid that basically increases the oil level with foamy oil.
Foamy oil does not cool very well, it gets hot as hell and the viscosity takes the big poo.
By lowering the oil level further away from the crank, this problem lessens and hopefully the issue goes away.
An oil stabilizer, if added, helps reduce the foaming action and can actually reduce the oil temps. It works almost like a fabric softener by lowering the surface tension making it harder to form sustainable bubbles.
