How much would all the machining be to have everything done that needs fixed?
From viewing pictures over the internet no-one can estimate the machining costs necessary. For a good OEM 460 500 hp jet boat build it might be a couple thousand, give or take.
And is .080 really safe still? I thought .060 was kinda the limit until it had been sonic checked
1) The number of 385 Series blocks we have sonic checked is in the triple digits.
2) When reviewing wall thickness results from our sonic check sheets, maximum overbore is estimated based on the block's expectation to support up to 1000 hp.
3) With all the blocks that we've measured and using the criteria noted above, we have come across only 2 blocks that will not go 4.44".
4) (For a 500 hp build, the two blocks in point 3 above might have been considered acceptable at 4.44")
